Things to do in Surfers Paradise when it’s raining

What to do when it's raining

Play, win, grin!

Well, duh: of course we were going to kick off our wet weather holiday action plan with the most epic Timezone in Australia! Timezone Surfers Paradise recently went through an extensive renovation, which has turned this already iconic Gold Coast landmark into a state-of-the-art, all-inclusive entertainment hub in Surfers Paradise. Timezone Surfers Paradise promises fun for all ages, and will keep the whole family entertained with hours of play in a high-end laser tag arena, 200sqm’s of bumper car bliss, brand-new mini bowling lanes and even a glow-in-the-dark mini golf experience. The venue also hosts over 200 of the latest, greatest arcade games – one of the biggest collections of arcade games in Australia. You might find yourself wishing for more rain just so that you can spend enough time discovering all of the cool entertainment options in venue... Not to mention racking up enough Powerpoints while playing to reward yourself with a cool prize from the iconic in-store prize counter! And when you get hungry, you can refuel at our on-site café. Rain? Bring it, we say!

Bee positive

Superbee Honeyworld in Currumbin is another great solution when grey clouds start gathering above the Gold Coast. This attraction educates visitors on all aspects of honey production, introducing them to the wonderful world of bees. A good thing, we say, given that bees are currently under a lot of pressure to survive, and people should learn how to help them. Superbee Honeyworld has a special live viewing room where visitors can observe actual working hives, and we’re always impressed by the insightful honey collection demonstrations. If you’ve ever wondered if people get stung while collecting honey, now’s your chance to find out! Best bit? Buying honey souvenirs when you’re done with your tour: there are more than 20 types of honey on offer, making it heaven for sweet tooths.

Do you believe?

If you’re in need of some really weird and wonderful rainy day entertainment, consider giving Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! a shot. Based in Surfers Paradise, this strange museum will thrill you with its wacky exhibits. Think two-headed cows, the world’s tallest man, Tibetan Skulls, wedding dresses made from toilet paper... There are worse places to wander around on a rainy day!

Dancing in the rain!

Well… Why not? Have at it!

So there you have it: some things you can do when it rains in the Gold Coast, guaranteed to cheer up the whole family!
